Experience with Divorce/Pornography/Addiction
Describe your experience with divorce and/or pornography and/or addiction. This could be your personal experience or someone that you know personally.
Interview someone who has experienced either divorce, pornography, or other addiction. It can be the person who directly experienced any of the above themselves or a family member who experienced one of the above as part of their family life.
Be prepared to come to class to share about your interview. Plan for 10 minutes of presenting and then discussion/questions. For your informal presentation, be prepared to discuss the following:
· The person’s basic story…what preceded and then brought them to the divorce, addiction, pornography?
· What is the timeframe? How long have they been sober? How long ago was the divorce (or is it happening now)?
· What kind of healing, if any, has the person experienced?
· What has been difficult?
· What has the person learned from all this?
Stansbury and Brenda are married, but Stansbury is so addicted to pornography that they cannot go along. She was under too much depression, and there was no understanding in the home. They both sleep in separate rooms because of her husband’s behavior. They both have a son, and he always sees his mom in tears; when asked, she would say everything is okay. After some time, she would not withhold the pain and stress she was going through, so she decided to let her son know. He refused to change the behavior and said nothing could change him from doing that. So, Brenda could not stand it anymore and decided to put her in for divorce. They both lived together and married for ten years.
